Hazlewood received clearance to join the Australian team for the initial Test against England following fitness concerns, but fellow pace bowler Sean Abbott will miss the match
Each encountered hamstring injuries during their match for NSW versus Victoria in the Sheffield Shield on Wednesday
Medical examinations revealed Hazlewood, 34 avoided a muscle strain. The uncapped Abbott, 33, has a moderate-level injury
Team captain Cummins is out of the initial match, starting November 21, meaning the absence of another experienced fast bowler such as Hazlewood might have represented a major blow
The bowler stood not expected to participate during the Western Australia Test, while Hazlewood will combine fellow quicks Starc and Boland as the primary pace attack
Cummins, who is recovering from back issues, is thought to be on track to return for the second Test commencing December fourth
Batsman Steve Smith will captain the side in Cummins' absence
Like many of the Australia players, Hazlewood is involved in recent matches of domestic cricket building up to the historic rivalry
Before this week, he had not played red-ball cricket representing NSW in more than a year
He felt tightness in his hamstring during the final stages of Victoria's second innings during the match exiting the play for safety reasons
The two bowlers participated in batting for the follow-on innings during their defeat in a substantial margin
"We have one week before the international cricket - always err on the side of caution," commented Cummins
"They needed to determine what was happening prior to testing it and potentially making anything worse"
"It's rare to get him chipper, therefore it was positive observing his positive demeanor"

Abbott earned 57 appearances representing Australia in ODI and T20 cricket
