Springfield's Favorite Family Arrives in Psyonix's Hit Game: Unfortunately Not the Vehicle You're Hoping For

We already knew that The Simpsons was teaming up with Epic Games' battle royale, but that's not the only place where fans can immerse themselves in the universe of Springfield. The long-running series is also making its way to the popular soccer-driving hybrid, bringing along an in-game car skin that will also be compatible in Fortnite. However, whether players will actually want to use it is a different matter, as fans have their hearts set on just one Springfield car the community is itching to drive, and this isn't it.

The Dream Vehicle

While many players would absolutely enjoy to compete while driving The Homer—the famously flawed automobile Homer designed himself in the 1991 installment "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—that's not what players are receiving. Not even receiving the Canyonero, the heavy-duty vehicle showcased in season 10. Instead, fans are getting the family's standard well-worn four-door, which they've been driving since the show's early days. Though this particular car has seen better days, it stands as an iconic element of the show. And for players who analyze the game's car hitboxes, the trusty sedan shares the identical collision model as the Dominus body type.

More Than Just a Car

But that's not the sole cosmetic from the series arriving in the game. This limited-time event will additionally feature a series of objectives to earn more goodies, all of which are Simpsons-themed. As detailed in a official announcement, the missions will task participants to "achieve a certain number of centers and clears as there are The Simpsons seasons, collect boost pickups as if your GPS is set to the Simpson house, and travel a specific distance sufficient for picking up the perfect donuts!"

Although the full lineup of earnable items isn't yet revealed, here is what has been confirmed so far:

  • Blinky topper
  • Homer's hedge-themed banner
  • Garbage-themed wheels
  • 20,000 XP per challenge

If the key art is a reliable guide, it appears players will also receive rims featuring a television showing The Simpsons' title sequence, alien antenna toppers, a sprinkled donut boost trail, and rocket boosts themed to smoldering rubber and Krusty's famous restaurant.

Launch Dates and Crossover Details

This event lines up with the major The Simpsons takeover of Fortnite, which brings a completely new playable area of Springfield, as well as a 30-day Battle Pass. This special Rocket League and Simpsons event launches on Saturday, Nov. 1 and ends on Nov. 17.
