An Interstellar Journey Drawing from Classic Games

Similar to the games from the Wii period that act as its source material, Mario will leave behind the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. On his epic voyage, he will meet again some well-known personalities, including the Luma, a fan favorite from the original cinematic release.

But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who seemingly utilizes powers related to metal. Notably, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also contains hints to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

The feature will feature once again of the original voice cast, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.

A Big Year for Mario

The upcoming Mario film is planned to debut around the time of the 40-year celebration of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. Beyond the film, 2026 looks set to be a major period for Mario and his companions.

The company has a set of three fresh titles officially announced for the upcoming year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
